DJ duo The Chainsmokers have been making waves with personals hits as of late, thanks to assistance from the likes of Halsey and Coldplay; this week, we get to check out a new track titled ‘Wake Up Alone’, which features assistance from TWENTY88 singer Jhené Aiko.
The track can be found on the new album Memories…Do Not Open, out now.
Currently, Jhené Aiko is on a media run to promote her new single (and visual for) ‘Maniac‘. Above and below, we’ve included her recent sit-downs with HOT 97 and The Breakfast Club, which sees her trying to avoid the elephant in the room — her boyfriend (?) Big Sean.
Sounds like Jhené Aiko is taking from older sister Mila J with her latest track ‘Maniac’, which sees her giving off more of a Hip-Hop vibe (perhaps beau Big Sean inspired this as well?). The accompanying visual sees her attempting her best “crazy”, complete with a Hannibal mask and psych ward restraints for good measure.
Taking a break from beau Big Sean, Jhené Aiko returns with a new single titled ‘Maniac’, a pretty sexy single that presumably serves as a precursor to a forthcoming album (early 2017, is what’s being said). It’ll be her official solo release since 2014’s Souled Out.
Check out ‘Maniac’ below and support via iTunes. We’ve also included what looks like a teaser for a new visual.
This is dope: rising star Gallant links with Jhené Aiko in the new visual for ‘Skipping Stones’, which sees Aiko at her most evil, at the Red Bull Sound Select singer’s expense — you simply have to watch to see what we mean.
You can purchase ‘Skipping Stones’ — produced by Adrian Younge — via iTunes.
[DISCLAIMER: We really don’t care about Aiko’s relationship woes. Well, some of us. That group is attempting to shoot their shot with the Californian beauty as we speak.]
So, yesterday: reports revealed that Jhené Aiko filed for divorce from her producer husband Dot Da Genius (who we’re fans of mainly thanks to his work with KiD CuDi); adding to that report, Aiko is supposedly asking the judge to deny spousal support. Is this common? Sure, but thats not why this news story is so intriguing.
Not long after her marriage almost a year ago, fans saw that we was working closely with Big Sean on what ended up becoming their Twenty88 EP; now, this isn’t all that crazy given how much they worked together in the past. As far as the closeness of the project (ie. they become a couple from the future who happen to also be porn stars), we all attributed it to the concept — when you see married actresses performing sex scenes in movies, you don’t see it as anything more than the act of theatre, right? That’s why even the kiss seen around the world didn’t phase us, either:
Well, it became hard not to notice both the increasing time the two spent together (yes, they were mostly promoting the EP) as well as Dot Da Genius’ inexplicable removal of photos with his wife via social media…and now this. Now we’re super confused: was all this extra sexy stuff between Big Sean and Aiko real? Will they emerge as the next genuine it couple in the same vein and Swizz Beatz and homewrecker Alicia Keys?
Following the release of their collaborative project TWENTY88, Big Sean and Jhené Aiko released a short film titled ‘Out Of Love’, which tells the tale of two porn stars in a roller coaster relationship with the aid of tracks off the project (‘Selfish’, ‘Talk Show’, ‘London Bridge’).
Above is a(nother) teaser; you can enjoy the full clip via TIDAL.
UPDATE: We’ve included Jhené Aiko and Big Sean’s debut performance as TWENTY88 — on Jimmy Kimmel Live! — below.
On Friday (today, when you see this), Jhené Aiko and Big Sean liberate their new project TWENTY88, which features one-track assistance (‘2 Minute Warning’) by way of K-Ci, JoJo and Detail. The release also coincides with a live performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and — at some point — a short film that sees the duo playing porn stars, which sounds pretty awesome (you can check out teasers from that below).
We’ve included the tracklisting below as well; TWENTY88 is available for streaming exclusively through TIDAL. A few days from now, the project will be released to other streaming platforms.
Following Big Sean and Jhené Aiko’s new collaboration announcement, the duo — using the name TWENTY88 — were recently featured in the latest issue of Flaunt Magazine. Within its pages, Aiko and Sean reveal how their relationship began, the creation of their new project and more — it’s also revealed that legendary R&B duo K-Ci and JoJo will appear on the project for the track ‘Two Minute Warning’.
[SIDEBAR: The end of the interview also revealed that they’re single and, well, slightly blurring the lines between each other — didn’t Jhené just get married?]
You can check out the feature in full here; a couple of pics from the spread can be found below. TWENTY88 is said to be dropping this week.
Frequent collaborators and close friends Big Sean and Jhené Aiko have (presumably) decided to come together for a new project titled TWENTY88, as can be seen via their social networks (and this).
The only thing that’s been released from the two are two super-teasers (below) and some artwork (above), which sees Aiko rocking a vivid orange hairstyle. Hopefully, some music from the two creatives will arrive sooner than later (the most recent tweet reveals 1st April as the date for something, so there’s that). UPDATE: So it’s an EP, according to most sources.
Jhené Aiko — who recently got married — has revealed a new visual for ‘B’s + H’s’, which seems to check a relationship from her past over some syrupy smooth production. In addition, Aiko also uses the clip to support A$AP Rocky’s latest collaboration with GUESS, which is dope.
Check out the Topshelf Junior-directed clip above.
