During the latest episode of his Beats 1 show (‘The SN1 Show’), Giggs liberated a new track titled ‘Superheroes’. In addition, he also announced a new mixtape titled WAMP 2 DEM, which would keep the South London rapper’s momentum going following his appearances on Drake’s More Life project:
I ain’t even got a title. Actually, do you know what, I’m going to call it WAMP 2 DEM. I don’t even know [how to] spell that yet but that’s what its gonna be called.
Maybe I’m just gonna drop it like summer time, because obviously I’m gonna give brothers space to breathe. You know them ones. I don’t want to be bullying up the place when other man have still got stuff to drop. So let me just say summer, WAMP 2 DEM – that’s going be the new mixtape.
Extreme sports festival NASS has announced a very impressive line-up for this year: Method Man & Redman, Pendulum, Kano, Giggs, Sigma and Wiley have been confirmed as the main headliners. In addition, Krept & Konan, Loyle Carner, David Rodigan, Toddla T, Nadia Rose, Stefflon Don, Preditah, Ms. Banks and more will be hitting the stage as well.
NASS Festival takes place 6th to 9th July near Bristol…get more information (and tickets) here.
Naturally, the Disclosure and Rudimental-curated Wild Life Festival is shaping up to be one of the best events this year, and it’s received one hell of a Grime injection with new additions to the line-up. Jme will be hosting Wild Life’s Tropical stage — he’ll be joined by Wiley, President T, AJ Tracey, Logan Sama and more. Also: the main stage (which already boasts the likes of Jess Glynne, George Ezra, Zara Larsson and freakin’ Chaka Khan) will now see an appearances from Giggs.
You can check out the current line-up and get your tickets here; Wild Life takes place 9th and 10th June at Brighton City Airport.
Giggs is making his way to the (digital) radio waves. During a recent interview with Julie Adenuga (which can be streamed below), the South Londoner announced that he has a new radio show on Beats 1 titled (as expected) SN1, which will be done alongside DJ Big Ryde. It’s premiere episode is tonight at 8PM.
So, what to expect on the show?
Man just want to run some riddims, that’s it. I’m not going to lie. And we can, we got the platform so lets run some riddims innit.
This is just awesome to see: South London’s Giggs — a man who often found his shows being shut down by police for no reason — has announced a four-date tour to take place this April, which will see him in Manchester, Glasgow, Norwich and (of course) London. You can see the dates above and below…tickets are on sale now.
GIGGS APRIL TOUR DATES:
17 April – O2 Ritz – Manchester
18 April – O2 ABC – Glasgow
20 April – UEA – Norwich
21 April – Eventim Apollo – London
Currently, Drake’s Boy Meets World tour is holding residence at London’s O2 Arena, and those that have attended haven’t been disappointed. In addition to the Canadian star, he’s also brought a few surprises to the stage — namely, Giggs, Section Boyz, Travis Scott (who fell through an opening in the floor, which apparently prompted Drake to give everyone refunds) and (opening act) Young Thug during the most recent dates. You can check footage of that awesomeness below.
Drake continues his love for UK music. During his Boy Meets World tour stop in Amsterdam, the Canadian wonder revealed a new track that features Giggs, and it sounds crazy — you can listen to its debut above. Whether or not it will appear on More Life is yet to be confirmed.
Some awesome news to wake up to: the legendary Lethal Bizzle is gearing up for the release of a new album titled Lennox Rd. (an obvious nod to his Walthamstow stomping grounds). First, he breaks out a new track and visual for ‘Round Here’, a hard-hitting collaboration with Giggs and Flowdan. You can enjoy that above and pre-order the single — produced by The HeavyTrackerz — via iTunes.
Taking a break from whatever the hell DJ Vlad is doing (he’s like the new Jerry Springer of Hip-Hop), Red Bull Music Academy recently liberated a full recap of their sit-down with Giggs, who spoke with The Is Grime author Hattie Collins on a numbers of dope topics (Giggs’ early childhood, being a DJ from early, mixtapes, being a father and much more).
This is MADNESS. Last Friday, Giggs did something that has been all but impossible throughout his career: he performed a headliner at London’s O2 Forum in support of his latest album Landlord. If you missed it, here’s a bit of FOMO for you: just look at the response during his performance of ‘Whippin Excursion’, both on stage (Skepta!) and in the crowd.
Shout out to GRM Daily for the recap footage. UPDATE: Link Up TV blesses the world with a full documentary of the entire concert. Check that out below.
