Drake Continues To Get Mickey Mouse Tattoos

Categories NEWSPosted on

Over the course of his career, Toronto megastar Drake has amassed a slew of small, seemingly random (obviously, we don’t know the meaning because someone’s art) tattoos in a way you might compare to Rihanna (as opposed to, say, the tattoo-heavy Lil Wayne). His latest few continue this pattern, which people either love or hate…either way, you can check them out below. Definitely wondering how Sade’s feeling about that face ink…

Drake Brings Out Skepta, Nicki Minaj (& More) In London (Video)

Categories PERFORMANCES, VIDEOPosted on

Crazy. During a recent O2 tour stop (his final), Drake decided to bring out close friends Skepta, Popcaan, Nicki Minaj and more to the delight of the packed arena…you can check that out above and below. In related news, Skepta also decided to address being called a “crackhead” (as well as a recent outfit choice)…that’s been added below as well.

Also: Drake’s inclusion of Skepta, Giggs, Sampha and Jorja Smith had a positive effect on their individual sales as well…you more on that here.

ALBUM STREAM: Drake – More Life

Categories FEATURED, HIP-HOP/SPOKEN WORD, MUSICPosted on

Welp, it’s finally here. Earlier this evening, Drake debuted his new album — a “playlist” project titled More Life — on Apple Music’s Beats 1 via his OVO Sound Radio show. From the looks of things, the Canadian star has redeemed himself to those who were critical of Views…it also looks like he’s still throwing shots as his competition (mainly, Meek Mill).

More Life contains 22 tracks and features appearances from Giggs, Skepta, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Sampha, 2 Chainz, Travis Scott, Quavo, Young Thug (who is on fire right now lyrically) and more. Stream below via Apple Music, Spotify or — gasp! — TIDAL.

You see it. Separating himself from the usual (Friday) releases, Drake has taken to social media to reveal that the long-awaited, delayed More Life will be making landfall 18th March. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for this project.

Funkmaster Flex Responds To Drake’s Interview With DJ Semtex

Categories NEWSPosted on

Just for kicks: if you listened to Drake’s sit-down with Semtex, then you heard the OVO head honcho making his feelings on DJ Drama’s role in the Meek Mill feud pretty clear. What was Drama’s role you ask? In a nutshell, Drama is the person who gave the now-infamous Quentin Miller reference tracks to Funkmaster Flex and Meek Mill (something that — obviously — Drake wasn’t happy about).

You can check out a transcript of that here, but below is an excerpt:

Meek Mill at the time due to some issue with Nicki whatever, decided to create a narrative that I don’t write my own music because that was what was convenient at the time and he caught wind of it. It’s unfortunate too because Quentin was being managed by DJ Drama and Don [Cannon] who ended up really f***ing his s*** up because they were just like really messy with the shit, unnecessarily.

…there were like these references from our sessions when we’d worked together, no context to those references at all but they existed you know. That taught me a valuable lesson as well, which is just like ‘man I can’t trust anybody, you can’t leave this studio with nothing’. Like I said it was really DJ Drama that got a call from somebody higher up, at that time, he just didn’t have the backbone to say no to this person and he was like ‘yo my man’s getting roasted, you gotta give him some ammo, we gotta keep Drake down’ and that is when I realised how deep this s*** really is.

Got it? Good…anyways, Funk Flex eventually caught wind of the interview and decided to put his two cents in, which is hilarious:

You can check out a timeline of the entire Drake/Meek Mill “beef” here.

Drake Gets Pretty Candid About Everything With DJ Semtex (LISTEN)

UPDATE: He has four songs with Giggs in the cut. Four.

**********

During tonight’s OVO Sound Radio, the world got to hear a brand spankin’ new interview with Drake and DJ Semtex, which saw the Canadian star speaking pretty candidly on everything from what the hell is up with Kanye West to his now well-documented beef with Meek Mill (and everything and everyone in between). Currently, an audio rip is available for listening below (we’ve also included some juicy excerpts); much of the interview is also transcribed via Semtex’s Nation of Billions website. The full video clip will be available on Monday.

IN RELATED NEWS: Drake, Giggs and Skepta recently crashed Smoke Dawg and Nafe Smallz XOYO show, which can also be seen below.

ON MEEK MILL: I’m sitting here thinking you’re ready for it… I thought this was like 3 months in the making. When I dropped ‘Charged Up’ just to see what the preparation level was I realised ‘you’re not ready’…I knew I had to retaliate because I realised he was unprepared.

[Meek] decided to create this narrative that I don’t write my own music… Anybody that was in those rooms, that worked on that project knows that I am one of the best writer period.

ON A NOTABLE KANYE WEST RANT, WHICH ALSO TARGETED DJ KHALED: I went from being… like working on a project with him, to him sorta publicly s***ting on me and DJ Khaled for being on the radio too much. But yeah I’m not really sure, everybody’s got their own thing going on. Again me when I hear that, I just distance myself from it you know, alright if that’s what it is I don’t really even understand the point you’re trying to make but whatever it is that you’re going through, I accept it, I don’t respect it at all. You know cos I feel like me and Khaled are just good people, I’m not sure why we’re the target of your choice that you made that night. And yeah I accept what you’re going through, and I just go and continue working on my own thing. You know the more and more this progresses, the more and more I just feel like keeping to myself, cos its just so unpredictable, you never know which way people are gonna go.

Drake & Wizkid – Hush Up The Silence

Categories AFROBEAT/CARIBBEAN, HIP-HOP/SPOKEN WORD, MUSICPosted on

This past weekend’s episode of OVO Sound Radio features some great moments (and also featured Boy Better Know’s DJ Maximum). Among the music played came a new track from ‘One Dance’ collaborators Drake and Wizkid titled ‘Hush Up The Silence’, which sees the Canadian star continue his use of Dancehall-inspired sounds. In addition, he also reassured listeners of the radio show that More Life is still very much on the way.

Check out ‘Hush Up The Silence’ below (about an hour into the stream).

In addition to Drake killing the stage overseas as part of his Boy Meets World tour, he’s also reconnecting with his Young Money comrades — the Canadian star recently revealed pics of him hanging out with Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne. Always good to see that — despite issues between Wayne and Cash Money boss Birdman — these three are still pretty tight. We also can help but think about what Meek Mill is thinking (especially with the onslaught on memes heading in his direction).

Drake Brings Out Giggs, Section Boyz, Travis Scott & More In London

Categories PERFORMANCES, VIDEOPosted on

Currently, Drake’s Boy Meets World tour is holding residence at London’s O2 Arena, and those that have attended haven’t been disappointed. In addition to the Canadian star, he’s also brought a few surprises to the stage — namely, Giggs, Section Boyz, Travis Scott (who fell through an opening in the floor, which apparently prompted Drake to give everyone refunds) and (opening act) Young Thug during the most recent dates. You can check footage of that awesomeness below.
