Drake continues to play his special brand of chess in the midst of his latest back-and-forth with HOT 97; he and (HOT 97 rival host) Charlamagne Tha God were spotted partying together during Drizzy’s visit to New York. It certainly shows how far the two have come — Charlamagne Tha God is probably best known for attacking Drake’s character almost daily.
In response to Drake’s latest round of disses, Ebro & Co. decided to speak on the matter at hand. You can listen to that show below.
This is pretty dope: Charlie Sloth recently played some freestyles by Akala, Kano and Wretch 32 for Charlamagne Tha God to see what he thought, and how they would register in the United States (although — to be fair — should that even matter?).
Charlamagne Tha God was recently in London for a special live show edition of his Brilliant Idiots podcast. Sometime during, he sat down with BBC 1Xtra’s Mim Shaikh to talk UK Rap/Grime (Krept & Konan, Stormzy) and his knowledge of the radio industry.
As fans of Charlamagne Tha God and Andrew Schulz’ podcast The Brilliant Idiots, we’re excited to announce the duo’s forthcoming appearance at South London’s The Grand this Friday (1st April). Directly following their live broadcast will be an after-party in the same venue, which will see performances from Raj & Snips, Mr. Thing, Shortee Blitz, Budakan and Obi Smalls (below). UPDATE: Tickets to the 6PM broadcast are now sold-out; the afterparty (which begins at 10PM) is still open season.
It’ll be one hell of a night.
Seeing the amount of slander that Iggy Azalea has received from Hip-Hop since she become a worldwide sensation (of which much had been brought on through her own missteps), we actually don’t remember a lot of it coming from Charlamagne Tha God (and this is what he’s generally known for). So it’s actually not a surprise to see that the presenter got a chance to give Azalea pointers for her forthcoming album, most-recently titled Digital Distortion (which doesn’t yet have a release date).
Check out the tweets below. We can’t help but wonder: will Iggy’s new album still be Hip-Hop? And will she continue to use the faux-Southern American accent?
The Hip-Hop consensus states that the battle between Drake and Meek Mill is pretty over, following two pretty scathing diss records from Drake, a subpar one from Meek and the complete shunning of Meek Mill by social media.
Now, Charlamagne Tha God has taken to The Breakfast Club this morning to give Meek Mill ‘Donkey Of The Day’ for his losing efforts. From having the number one record in the country to being out-rapped and out-classed by Drake, well…in the words of Meek’s favourite rapper, it was all good just a week ago.
If you don’t understand the pure genius of this act, here’s an extremely brief history lesson:
Charlamagne Tha God has spent most of his time as a member of The Breakfast Club disses Drake (mainly because Drake’s light-skinned, and because he sings…or something) and Drake has made his dislike for the radio show presenter very clear.
Fast-forward to this morning: Drake drops a new diss track at Meek Mill, which comes with the following bars:
You gon’ make me step out of my f***in’ frame/you gon’ make me buy bottles for Charlamagne/you gon’ make me go out of my f***in’ way
Then, when Charlemagne Tha God arrives at Power 105, he was apparently shocked to see that Drake in fact bought six bottles of expensive champagne and has it delivered, complete with a note asking for friendship. This guy is a don.
Check out Charlemagne’s reaction to the gift above.
We’ve heard quite a bit about Chicago rapper Tink in Timbaland’s latest interview with The Breakfast Club…today, we get to check out a new single, ‘Around The Clock’, produced by Timbaland and featuring Breakfast Club presenter Charlamagne Tha God.
Check it out below and let us know your thoughts.
American urban shock jock Charlamagne Tha God was recently in London for a gig; during his stay, he stopped by Tim Westwood show on Capital XTRA for a pretty dope interview, where he spoke on making Lil Mama cry, his rise in the radio/media industry, being fired multiple times and more. Below, he speaks on Bobby Shmurda, TV, chicken and women.
Power 105.1/The Breakfast Club radio presenter Charlamagne Tha God was recently in London, and he held a couple of really good interview while in the city…
Above, Charlamagne sat down with Urban Flash to give his thoughts on two people with whom he probably isn’t held in high regard: Kanye West and Drake.
Below, he continues to share his views with NKE Media, extending opinion to Joe Budden (who owes him money, apparently) and the recent Total Slaughter rap battle.
