Future & Drake – What A Time To Be Alive (Vlog)

Categories IN THE STUDIO, VIDEOPosted on

UPDATE: Episode 2 added below.

Future and Drake’s new mixtape-for-sale What A Time To Be Alive has been burning up charts (including the number 6 slot on the Official Charts) and pretty much taking over everything, everywhere in regards to Hip-Hop. Now, we get a more focused look into just how these two mega-stars created the quickstrike project, thanks to the above vlog that also sees appearances from Metro Boomin (the mixtape’s executive producer) and DJ Esco.

As more footage drops, we’ll add those here…in the meantime, enjoy the above clip and get your copy of What A Time To Be Alive here.

WATCH: Murkage Dave Creates A Mixtape In 48 Hours

Categories IN THE STUDIO, VIDEOPosted on

Just as Jme did, Murkage Dave becomes the next artist to whip together a mixtape in two days time for Pepsi Max and Noisey’s Making Of series. Along the way, he received help from HeyGamal, Zed Bias, Fallacy, Hypes, Levelz’ T-Man, Peace & Love Barbershop Muhammed Ali (?) and — as far as the filming, anyway — frequent collaborator Mike Skinner.

You can enjoy the final product from the Manchester artist here.

IN THE STUDIO: Lil Wayne & Rich Homie Quan

Categories IN THE STUDIO, VIDEOPosted on

If there was ever a Hip-Hop soap opera for the year, Lil Wayne is certainly at the centre of it. Following the many episodes also involving Birdman and Young Thug (including an apparent plot to kill Wayne, which we’re still dumbfounded by), new footage reveals that Weezy was recently in the studio with none other than Atlanta rapper (and former Rich Gang soldier) Rich Homie Quan. Yep.

We’d be hard pressed to believe that these two were cooking up anything but a diss track to their former associates.

BEHIND THE SCENES: Big Narstie’s ‘#BASE Society’

Categories IN THE STUDIO, VIDEOPosted on

Big Narstie’s next cook-up is a mixtape called Base Society (or #BASE Society), and The Grime Report takes us behind the scenes to the studio sessions, which feature (in addition to Narstie) Typah, Izzie Gibbs, Lil Choppa, Villain, Jammz, Kwam, Stats, Capo Lee, Grimey, J Endless, The Twinz & more. We see much touring for this new movement in the future.

A video posted by TEEEEEMMMPPPZZZZ (@tempa_t) on

Wow! After showing Skrillex utilising ‘Next Hype’, Tempa T has revealed (via Instagram) that he and the American EDM star are cooking up something in the studio. We also get a small glimpse of Tempa’s forthcoming album It’s Bait, It’s Bait.

Anything these two create together would be nothing short of massive.

Jammer Drops Promo Visual For Upcoming Single, ‘Royal Rumble’

Categories IN THE STUDIO, VIDEOPosted on

Above is some behind the scenes footage from Jammer (done at Red Bull Studios), featuring the Boy Better Know operative along with many other notable Grime artists (namely: Double E, Bruza, Footsie, Jendor, Blacks, Ears, Royal, Shorty, 2Face, Hyper and Lethal Bizzle). The clip serves as a lead-up to Jammer’s forthcoming new single ‘Royal Rumble’, of which we (excitedly) have two questions:

  • Are all the people in the video going to be on the track (hence the song’s name)?; and
  • Is Jammer really going to use the same Preditah beat that fellow BBK emcee Jme used for his own tune (not really complaining, the production is sick regardless)?

Jerry Seinfeld Feat. Wale – The Matrimony (Episode 1)

Categories IN THE STUDIO, VIDEOPosted on

If you forgot the main reason for Wale’s forthcoming Album About Nothing concept, he’s kicked off some short vlogs that see him talking about various subjects in the studio. Above, they get on the topic of marriage, presumably in connection to Wale’s latest single ‘The Matrimony’.

Album About Nothing drops next week (preorder on iTunes).

Wale Teases Kanye West Collaboration (Video)

Categories IN THE STUDIO, VIDEOPosted on

This is dope: Wale recently revealed via his Snapchat that he has a track with Kanye West in the books, done during his recent trip to Paris. We aren’t entirely sure if this track will end up on The Album About Nothing (we know — we’ve seen the tracklist. Maybe it’s a surprise) or maybe even Ye’s So Help Me God. In the meantime, you can check out a quick tease of the tune above.

Below, we’ve also included a new visual from Wale titled ‘Loyalty’ (which is taken from his mixtape Festivus and another cover from the aforementioned Album about Nothing (released 31st March 1st April; preorder on iTunes).

WATCH: Kanye West Plays ‘All Day’ For Diddy In The Studio

(Presumably) before we all get to hear the final product that is ‘All Day‘, Kanye West was in the studio letting Diddy take a listen for input, and — thankfully — REVOLT TV got a peek at how that session went down.

If you’re wondering about all of the contributions made to the single, well…there’s are plenty (full credits below):
