Following Kanye West’s super-palooza at Madison Square Garden, The Life Of Pablo collaborator (and PUMA brand ambassador) Rihanna held her own fashion reveal at Manhattan’s 23 Wall Morgan House. Dubbed the Fenty Puma collection, attendees got to see some dark, street-inspired threads that are said to be going on sale later this year. Big names in the building included Chris Rock, Foxy Brown, Wale, Young Thug, SZA, Jeremy Scott, Travi$ Scott (of course) and more…even Rihanna’s mother, brother and other family members were there for support.
Speaking with NY Times post-show, Rihanna spoke on having her name attached to PUMA’s latest venture:
It’s crazy. Even to look at it right now. I think it’s a little more subtle when you look at it in Japanese, but when it’s right there in English, it’s surreal. It makes me think of my dad and how proud he must be. It’s his name. He grew up with this name. Now it’s a name that’s on an international brand.

Pharrell expands his reach into fashion even further, and the music and style tastemaker has announced that he is now co-owner of Amsterdam-based premium denim brand G-Star RAW. This is in addition to his recent re-acquisition of Billionaire Boys Club/Ice Cream. So much win for Skateboard P.
Currently, Kanye West is getting ready for this week’s big reveal with a proper fitting season. Thankfully, the Chicago artist-producer-designer decided to let the world in with a few snaps via his Twitter account. Check those out below (WARNING: one of them is NSFW).
We spy some dope 1050 boot colourways and a Drake-inspired sweater.
Kanye West is definitely an indecisive person; for his latest ‘out-of-nowhere’ decision change, SWISH (which, at one point, was titled So Help Me God) has now been re-titledWaves. It also looks as if he’s made some minor changes to the album itself (with the help of some friends):
Just prior to this announcement, it’s also been confirmed by several reports that ‘Ye will also be premiering his ‘Yeezy Season 3’ collection with adidas; this is set to happen at Madison Square Garden on 11th February, the same day as Waves‘ release. UPDATE: It looks like Ticketmaster no longer has the event up, which was said to be going on sale today.
If you recall, brand management entity Iconix (also known for acquiring Rocawear from JAY Z, a minority owner) took a 50% stake in Pharrell Williams’ popular Billionaire Boys Club/Ice Cream brand back in 2012. Now, reports are stating that the producer-artist-songwriter has repurchased said stake and once again has full control.
According to an Iconix spokesman:
The sale of our interest in BBC and Ice Cream was a strategic decision to rationalize smaller noncore assets in the Iconix portfolio, allowing us to focus our time and resources on the larger cash flow generating brands. BBC and Ice Cream represented less than 1 percent of our total business.
Other issues at play: Iconix has to sort out a $300 million debt obligation by June (they’re attempting to refinance)…in addition, certain accounting issues have earned them a formal investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Sweden artist Yung Lean is looking to take his music success into the fashion world. Along with his Sad Boys Entertainment (SBE) collective, Lean is launching a new clothing line alongside label Visíble, which will include a collection of apparel and accessories.
Currently, we can check out an (oversized?) white button-up with graphics, which (along with SBE) was created with designer o’D Möngke; you can check that out above. Stay updated with the new clothing line here.
Remember GUESS? For many of us (particularly the 80’s babies), it was the brand to wear in school if you wanted to be in-style…and A$AP Rocky is looking to bring that feeling back.
Above lies Rocky’s new capsule collection with the fashionwear brand, which gets nostalgic thanks to denim jackets, overalls, stripes and more; we absolutely love the slightly-modified GUESS logo, which now features the ‘$’ that’s seen heavily in A$AP’s own brand. A literal blast from the past (NOTE: we also spot Diddy’s son and Rocky’s DOPE co-star Quincy in the pics as well).
The prices look to be fairly reasonable as well, which is said to range from $34 (£24) to $228 (£160). Pre-sales begin 30th January; you can stay up-to-date on the collection here.
