Leader in Grime slash Boy Better Know general Skepta is linking with designer Nasir Mazhar to create the soundtrack for Mazhar’s SS15 London Collection catwalk show, which goes down 17th June. The show — which we would imagine would feature original tracks by Skepta and the BBK collective — takes place at Victoria House and is followed by what is sure to be a sick afterparty at the Metropolis stripclub in East London.
This is all courtesy of the Red Bull brand, who spoke with the two on the collaboration; you can check out that interview in full here….we’ve thrown a couple of quotables below, in which the two begin explaining how they create together.
Red Bull: How have you two worked together – weren’t you in the studio all hours discussing this collaboration?
Skepta: That was the first day we ever met, we were here ’til like two in the morning, going through songs. It’s cool – I normally make music on my on my own, in my own headspace, but it’s good having Nas, like when he was playing stuff on the keyboard, I was feeling, ‘Rah, this is not something that someone who can make music would play.’ But this is his feeling on the keyboard and that’s sometimes how you get new things. Like with the clothing side of things, that’s his forté but I might say something that’s really raw or that he hasn’t thought of as he’s in the industry. It’s nice, I do think that music and fashion are both a result of pain and the love for something at the same time. That’s why they go together so well. It’s a perfect collaboration, I think that it’s right for me to do this.
Red Bull: I heard that you started writing the track while watching videos of Nasir’s past catwalk shows?
Skepta: We had it playing on YouTube on mute, just to have it in the background. It was a vibe, all of it just goes together. So for me, learning about it and watching people on the catwalk, it’s like a music video and I’m making the soundtrack to it. As a producer I know that a bass sounds really good here or a kick drum sounds really nice there, but for this kind of thing it’s more of a feeling, some people are going to be sitting and watching people walk out with clothes so we’re looking for noises, sounds that are fresh to people’s ears, something that sounds new. We’ve got clips of old grime footage of Dizzy and Crazy Titch just shouting and going sick on each other. It’s all about the atmosphere, we’re not trying to make the biggest festival song of the year, we’re trying to create the sickest atmosphere for the sickest clothes that are gonna come out on the runway.
Nasir: For me it’s the first time I’ve been able to work with someone who cares so much about the sound. “What does that sound evoke? How does that sound make you feel?’
For all the rich folks who’ll be enjoying the World Cup in Brazil from your private seating area, this is for you: Versace (Versace Versace….sorry, I couldn’t help it) has revealed a special edition T-shirt honouring the sports event, and all you need is £410.
For that cartel drug lord in the Summer look, head over here. You can also check out their description below:
To celebrate the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Donatella Versace has created a special t-shirt that combines the passions of football with the vivid iconography of the Versace DNA. A brand new Versace baroque print is created using the colors of a Brazilian carnival, decorated with repeated images footballs and flowers. Gold chains and leopard print add luxury, while silhouettes of football players connect the glamour of Versace with the sportsmanship of Brazil. At the heart of the t-shirt is the iconic Medusa head, with a special Versace rock twist.
I haven’t been keeping up with what Play Cloths has been creating for the warmer weather, but after checking out a few items by way of their latest lookbook, I’m definitely going to from this point on.
You can check out their latest items, which include plenty of tees that showcase a more international direction (the insert-location-cloths and the soccer-style tees are the best example). The padded/quasi-bulletproof look? Not so much.
Head over to the official website for more.
Disclosure has stepped into snapback game with some new headgear they designed with New Era.
In the above interview, the duo speak on how their logo was created (which is featured prominently on the snapbacks), how they got into music (and how best to describe their music), what folks can expect at their live shows and more. We then get a better look at the cap, which will only be available during select Disclosure tour dates.
Have you noticed Pharrell frequently wearing what looks like kicks he drew over? Well, the Virginia producer/artist has linked with adidas and Paris shop Colette to bring those shoes to life for the common sneakerhead.
There’s some exclusivity, too, as there were only 10 pairs created that will go on sale…the proceeds will go to Pharrell’s From One Hand To AnOTHER non-profit organization. Anyways, you should probably stop reading this and go lock in your shoes at Colette’s online store now.
UPDATE: Nevermind, the kicks are now sold out. Perhaps they will now be resold for a high price…
Always the working man, Pharrell’s latest venture delves into a new fragrance for both men and women.
Dubbed ‘Girl’ (presumably along the same lines as the Virginia wunderkind’s latest release, G I R L), the gender-friendly product was designed and packaged by House + Holme with dope artwork by the New York artist KAWS. The creation of the actual fragrance (a reported combination of iris, styrax, violet, patchouli and cedar) was a mutual collaboration between Pharrell, Christian Astuguevieille (creative director of Comme des Garçons Parfums) and Antoine Lie of Takasago.
‘Girl’ has been priced at $135 for the 100 ml bottle and $30 for the travel-sized (10 ml). The collaboration will premiere at Dover Street Market London and Tokyo beginning 1st September, followed by Dover Street Market New York 5th September. Sephora will then hold sales of the fragrance (I really don’t know what to call this unisex ‘smell good’, to be honest) online in the United States, Canada and France.
Get ready for the Summer.
PacSun has teamed up with Been Trill for a pretty expansion collection for the upcoming season, and at the center of its recent releases lies the collaborative ‘No Boys Allowed’ swimsuit line.
The gear includes seven pieces of cropped and bra tops and legging, all showing the now-well-known brand’s images prominently on the front (right down to the horror drip font that Been Trill is mostly known for).
You can check out the pieces in the gallery above; head over to PacSun’s Been Trill section to lock in your swimsuit for the beach (or any of the other items that the two brands have to offer).

She was also spotted rocking a less-Summer-y hoodie while out and about recently, so we may now have a pretty good idea of what to expect.
The collection, which officially debuts August 21st, will be split up into five separate, design-specific sub-collections, all directly inspired by Ora’s personal style.
Nike is releasing a limited-edition Arsenal shirt, which commemorates their recent FA Cup win over Hull City.
The shirt (which will be in limited production) will be displayed at NikeTown London before moving to the Arsenal museum next month. As quoted by Marc van Pappelendam, Vice President of Nike UK & Ireland:
“Nike has enjoyed a wonderful partnership with Arsenal Football Club…the kits that Nike has produced for the club over the last twenty years tell a story; a timeline of quality that will be remembered for a long time to come.”
Last night, Rick Ross brought his MMG brand to Roundhouse in Camden to the delight of the packed house. One individual who should be excited is artist/business man Sincere, who’s boutique Lizzy Collection became a choice of outfit for the ‘bawse’.
You can check out pics above (and make your way here to get your own)….we’ve also included some fan footage from the show below.
