How to end your music career completely 101. X Factor alum Nathan Fagan Gayle (also known as Starboy Nathan) is on trial for allegedly conning a 73-year-old woman out of £130,000 as part of large scale defrauding scheme. As stated in the Mirror back in September:
Eight men are alleged to have plotted with others to pull off the scam by telephoning people claiming to be from law enforcement agencies to inform them they had been the victims of fraud.
The victims were then claimed to have been duped into transferring money to bank accounts or withdrawing cash to hand over to the alleged fraudsters.
This 5-man operation (of which Nathan was part of) managed to take money from victims as old as 94 in places like Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Beds, London and Kent. Nathan’s red flag apparently stems from receiving £20,000 of that many in his bank account, £5,000 of which he used for trips to L.A. and creps from Foot Locker.
We’ll do our best to keep you updated on what happens with Starboy Nathan at the Old Bailey moving forward. We can’t help but think about the fact that — as we did — many probably assumed that Nathan’s career was actually paying good money (hell, he had Top 40 singles with ‘Come Into My Room’ and ‘Diamonds’ and toured with JLS and N-Dubz). Said to hear that we were wrong.
