Reports State Sony May Drop Dr. Luke; Dr. Luke Denies It
Reports are stating that Sony could be ending their contract with Dr. Luke prematurely (it’s actually up in 2017) following the still growing backlash over Kesha’s contractual obligations, which she fought to end after accusations of rape and sex abuse.
Taken from The Wrap, an anonymous source claimed that, with the likes of Adele, Taylor Swift, Grimes and Kelly Clarkson backing Kesha, the record label is seriously thinking about parting ways with Luke in the midst of mounting pressure. The issue seems to be polarising staff within the offices as well.
Despite this, Dr. Luke denies any possibility that Sony will drop him. Said his attorney (via TMZ):
Luke has an excellent relationship with Sony. His representatives are in regular contact with executives at the highest levels at Sony, and this has never come up.
Luke may have other problems, though: L.A.-based producer Ly Moula of Blahzé Misfits has unveiled what he claims to be Dr. Luke’s drum kits and samples. If this is the case, could this mean that Sony wouldn’t need to pay the actual Dr. Luke anymore?
