Skrillex recruits Korean Pop stalwarts CL (of 2NE1) and G-Dragon (of Big Bang) in his latest visual for the Diplo-co-produced ‘Dirty Vibe’, the latest single from his album Recess.
How did he lock in two of the biggest stars in South Korea for the record (source)?
We met in Korea when I was out there playing a show and at the time I was working on that track with Diplo. I played it for them and really wanted them to write something for it. So the whole thing happened very organically.
…I have always loved the culture of K-Pop. G-Dragon and CL are such inspiring artists for me. I love the Korean’s crazy over the top fashion and how it translates into the music. Its just really fun music.
[As far as the video,] I wanted a simple performance video that really showcased CL and G-Dragon. At the same time it was a big collaborative thing between everyone involved.
That’s not all either….below, you can check out Skrillex’s slew of remixes for the track, which sees additional assistance from Jack Beats, Habstrakt, DJ Snake and more. He’s also revealed a Gladiator-remixed version for Red Bull’s 20 Before 15 series, which you can check out here.
UPDATE: Not to flood you with Skrillex-related dopeness, but he — alongside the likes of Lorde, Disclosure, Alt-J, Diplo, Ben Folds, Flume and more (40 different artists, to be exact) — was recently featured in a commercial for Australian radio station Triple J.
You can check out his mega-group’s attempts to create one song below as well.
